I just went out and bought a small 2" vice with a swivel base. (the vice clamps to the desk).
Now im just wondering why I didnt get one sooner (only $20). It just makes everything about working small parts so much easier, ie. a very steady third hand!

Just thought I would give the heads up to the people who are viceless like I once was

P.S. I made sure to replace the metal inserts with non marring rubber ones

Who's the manufacturer? Where did you get it? I've been looking at several different types and have been hesitant to purchace one because I do not know haw good one is from another.
My hands get cramped after a while of holding a piece and I could sure one.

Its actually from Canadian Tire Its manufactured by MasterCraft which is sort of Canadian Tires signature brand. I dont know if you can buy online if you live in the states but I think so, if so then you get a better deal than me!
(P.S. I got it from the actual store)

Hope you guys can get one cause it works great!

see it here, http://www.canadiantire.ca/assortments/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441899315&FOLDER%3C%3EbrowsePath=1408474395348043&FOLDER%3C%3EbrowsePath=2534374303512639&FOLDER%3C%3EbrowsePath=2534374303512669&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374303512669&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395348027&bmUID=1060056755727

That's a nice clamp. I bet you could take advantage of the metal contruction for bending PE and or scratch built items - anvil stand in.

I have and like the Panavice as an alternate. A bit more $ though.
http://sidewalkflyers.com/pan/ this will show you what they have.

Thanks for the tool tip!

That is a GREAT price... I usually buy my tools at HarborFreight.com because their prices are so good (I got a GREAT metal spray booth cabinet with motor for only $60.95 including free freight!)... but their similar bench vise sets are around $50 US.

Still, a great resource for Air Brushes, tools, and every kind of Dremel do-hickey you could ever think of at about 1/2 the price you would find elsewhere. Here is their link http://www.harborfreight.com/

Clamp on Vises are fairly common. I've got several vises I use. I LOVE my Dremel vise (resembles a Panavise) I also have one of these clamp on types. They work great.

Here's a pic of the one from Canadian Tire:

I saw that vice Vince, but it seemed a little expensive for what it was IMHO.
