Well I suppose that if I'm supposed to be looking after this shindig I should enlist as well . . . . . . . . . . . . . ok . . . . . . . done !!

Thanks for your faith in my abilities and commitment Nige (sadly misguided as it may be) I will do my bestest to keep this unruly rabble functioning as a finely tuned machine !

Now I'd best go on the recruitment drive and get a few more players.

Cheers, D

I'm in. Still trying to determine if Henry Pax's bird from the 406th FS carried pinup artwork, but if not, I've got a really good possibility from the 524th FS that I'll do some custom decals for.

I am on.

I will have to find some pin up art for the razorback P-47 in my stash, but I am sure I will succeed.

I have already made both versions of the Revell P-47N, so now I am going for the Razorback.

I pledged myself not to enter anymore plane specific campaigns. Just goes to show, a naked babe has more power than a pledge. Who can resist?!!! .

Here's the markings scheme I'm going to struggle with; Zotz Decals. I have no idea which unit this aircraft hails from.

An acceptably gorgeous babe is the Pin-Up.

And I don't have a newspaper, but I'm starting to clean up plastic tonight. You'll have to settle for a simple spue's shot; Tamiya 1/48 P-47D:

There, that parts done! Time to play with plastic. 8:45PM, June 01, 2011

I'm in with either a Trumpeter Razor Back or a Hasegawa Bubble-top - both of course in 1/32. I'll sleep on it and post a decision, along with some sprue shots tomorrow. Nose art selection will take a little longer. This should be fun! I love the old Jug, always have.

Now we're starting to get it together, 6 enlisted and some good times ahead for sure.

@ Nick, good to see another Great Southern Jug fan here. I wonder when those pesky Patman boys will show up?

@Jon, great to have you on board sir, I'm sure your wealth of knowledge will be put to very good use here !

@ Jesper, always a pleasure to build alongside you mate !

@ Guy, hmmm, though you could escape me by dropping out of my Anti-Shipping Campaign hey ??? Well think again, I'm watching you very closely. Hold on, I've just been distracted by Patsy. Never mind, back to work !

@ Tom, welcome to Aeroscale and the P-47 SIG, and thanks for joining us in this Campaign. I'm looking forward to your builds here (plural because the rule is "If you talk about it, you gotta build it!"). Best you get cracking, 2 Jugs in thirty-tooth scale will take a while

@Nige . . . . . . . . .

As for me, I have a 1/48 Tamiya bubbletop that I will get started on early next week. I have a 2-night work trip interstate and a couple of quiet nights in the motel rooms will give me a few hours to get started on some sub-assemblies. I have no idea what markings I will go with yet, but I'm sure something will turn up !

Cheers, guys, and please don't forget to post lots of progress reports and general banter, we all love that stuff !

Thanks, Mate. The same to you!

This time I will not forget the campaign like the last P-47 campaign. I still feel ashamed to have you send the decals from down under and then not finish the entry into the campaign. This time it will be different

I have found some decals in my stash for an olivedrab/light grey razorback. Not as colourful as I had hoped, but with a beauty on the side of the fuselage.
I am either going to build the Monogram or the Tamiya 1/48 P-47 razorback. Both are in my stash.

Pictures to follow

Looking forward to this one! I'm not going to be able to start until the 19th since I'm away for training right now (that whole Army thing) but I'll be starting on either a Razorback or a Bubbletop (and continuing the Razorback I've got in the works separately!) then.

There are a few pinup birds in the profile section of the book, so I will more than likely do one of them for the campaign. I'll most likely do X35, which was a late war D-30 flown by the 85th FS in Germany through 1946, or perhaps one of two 27th FG airplanes!

After due consideration I flipped a coin and it came up "Razor Back", so that's what I'll "start" with (remind me to be careful about loose talk around Reg!). I've already added the Eduard interior kit & canopy mask and I'll probaly go with the Master Caster landing gear set as well. If anyone can advise which hub type would be better for a D-20 (spoke or plate style) I would be much obliged.

Hiya Paul, great to have you here as well mate, I had a feeling you would be up for another Jug build after you did so well on your last effort. ZOTZ decals . . . . . niiiiiiice !!

Tom, perhaps I'll let you get away with just one build considering all of that aftermarket goodness going on. You're just lucky that you're a newcomer, the old hands wouldn't get off so lightly !!

As promised here are a few pictures of what I am planning to build for this campaign.

I am currently relocating to Georgia with my pretty blond wife, so what would be more appropriate than building "Georgia Peach" with a pinup on the fuselage. Although the dimensions of the pinup and the wife are slightly different

I have not decided whether to use the Hasegawa or Monogram Razorback yet. The hasegawa kit looks to be vastly superior, but there is also a satisfaction of making a nice result from an average kit.

More to follow when I get started.

Hi all,

I'm in. Have to go through my 480 P-47 decals to choose something suitable for this one......

Plenty of Pin-ups in my stash

Very nice choice of markings there Jesper, and I agree with the sentiments regarding the kit choice as well. The last few Jugs I have built have been old Monogram kits and I really like them, but I'm going Tamiya this build.

Mark, welcome aboard and thanks for joining the Pin-Up party !

I'm in Warrnambool tonight, 400km from home in a motel room, and I just happen to have some tools and a kit handy, so here we go . . . . . . .

Undecided on markings yet, will browse some options and see what takes my fancy !

Cheers, D

Since I just got a copy of Rising Decals' Thunderbolts Over Corsica, I think I'm going to build mine as "The Wog" from the 65th FS. This particular airplane had no less than four pinups on it, taken directly out of the 1943 and 1944 Varga calendars and shellacked on the side of the airplane!

I've wanted to build this one for a while, so it'll be nice to finally crank it out!

Hi all,

I have a bit of a problem, too many great Thunderbolts to build and I cannot decide so I thought I would throw it out to you all to have your say.

I want to do a RB and have narrowed it down to these, let me know what you think:

Little Butch

Lilliput

Georgia Peach (Top Aircraft)

Squirt II (Top Aircraft)

Or Miss Behave (Top Aircraft)

What do you think?

Well, that helped me eliminate "Squirt II"!

I've got a copy of a photo of the nose art on that airplane that came from a 371st FG, 406th FS crew chief. It didn't have any other information with it and the name is mostly cut off, so I'd assumed it was a 406th FS, not a 405th FG airplane!

Interesting selection, Mark.

Fun to see there is a bubbletop Jug called "Georgia Peach II". I am building the first aircraft which apparently have been written of with the pilot taking over a new bubbletop.

I have decided to go for the Monogram P-47 Razorback. It actually looks like a pretty decent kit despite its age. Better than I expected. It will be interesting to see if it comes together just as well as it looks.

The kit decals allows me to build "Dallas Blonde". A razorback with a checkered tail. It is very tempting as I always wanted to do a P-40, P-47, or P-51 in a checkered tail. Decisions, decisions.....

More to follow when construction begins.

Here are links to our club website with some pics of the last 3 I have built . .

For an old kit they have great fit and good detail. I'm looking forward to your build progressing.
