Fantastic builds everyone.

Hoping to do the final assembly on the Kelly tomorrow and mount her to the base.
This week has just been so busy I haven't had five minutes at the work desk. This time of year I suppose.

Franc-I love that Apache! The one in my stash was never going to be built so I sold it on eBay. It's nice to see one finished, congratulations on your build.
Take care,

Almost ready to wind this one up. Therefore, it's time to launch the campaign I think many of you have been waiting for: The Eastern Front! It will run from 1 March through 1 September, 2019 and will include everything from Finland to the Balkans. The Enlisting thread is here, to sign up, go here. Should be a good one!

Well dang Michael I can't get anything past you! No they're for a comission build of a 1/32 Panavia Tornado I'm doing for a really nice guy up in Auckland.

Mark great work on the P-36A I know you can make it I have faith in your abilities!

Franck fanatastic result I really like what you've done with your Apache.

Thomas it's really quite a little stunner isn't it? Outstanding perseverance aginst mounting odds and I like the result so far.

While your M3 might have it's issues Paul it sure looks the part and I love how dusty it is! Something I'm still getting the hang of with the odd AFV I do.

Close to the finish line, slim chance of making it. But it's not for a lack of trying.

I got the M3 Lee done last week in the markings of a tank from Tunisia in March of 1943. I had some successes with the build such as the Krylon paint and a failure also in my mud daub camo that ended up looking like water spots. I hid the damage in the end and will have to try again with another technique on a future build.

I was fortunate to have a great reference book with plenty of Kodachrome pictures of M3s in stateside training with plenty of dust. While the color was wrong for North Africa, they were great for getting the dust patterns. I used a very small damp Q-Tip to daub off the dust in places where boots & uniforms of the crew would have wiped it off trying to make the model look like the pictures.

My skills are basic and I try new things to make the model look better each time.

Thanks for a great campaign and I look forward to a trip to the Eastern Front.

Great work, Chris and Franck!
Congrats for getting the finish line with those very nice looking builds. Another pretty addition for the gallery.

Hope I can post a final pic too, as I'm very close...

They look great Chris and Franck! Though Chris, I don't think those tanks are going to fit on that P-40.

Five more days everyone!

I hate you Franck I finally got the neutral gray on last night, there's a slim chance I'll get the OD tonight. Then I gotta get the props worked out, then the decals then the final assembly and fiddly bits. Don't think it's gonna happen.

Gentlemen what can I say but "outstanding work" you've all produced some excellent MTO examples to be proud of. I on the other hand while not saying very much have been watching and keeping up with progress while working on my contribution a Tomahawk IIb of Aussie ace Clive Caldwell, I did consider doing a shark mouth one but hey everybody does those! So here it is all in one post from beginning to end with some information about build progress as I go.

IMG_2116 by Chris WIlson, on Flickr

IMG_2117 by Chris WIlson, on Flickr

Detail is certainly adequate but not extensive but a major plus is that the decals are by Cartograf! (Bonus!)

IMG_2118 by Chris WIlson, on Flickr

Cockpit is kinda bare and those 50 cal breech blocks are aneamic! So I added some extra details to the cockpit.

IMG_2127 by Chris WIlson, on Flickr

IMG_2129 by Chris WIlson, on Flickr

I removed the breech blocks and made replacements from evergreen stock and manufactured charging handles. Really quite simply made but they looked the part and were nicely scale thin.

IMG_2132 by Chris WIlson, on Flickr

Much better!

IMG_2133 by Chris WIlson, on Flickr

The chin was a known problem on this kit so to bypass that I simply shimmed the part with thin plastic strip and sanded to shape wich worked a treat.

IMG_2126 by Chris WIlson, on Flickr

Nothing to fill just a little sanding to shape.

IMG_2134 by Chris WIlson, on Flickr

IMG_2135 by Chris WIlson, on Flickr

Next up it was detail painting after adding a couple of rudder channels to the floor boards. Not certain if these were actually in the cockpit or not but it added interest to the floor that was otherwise barren. The rest of the construction was straight forward the only places needing filler were on the wing roots underneath by the radiator chin. It was simply a case of painting everything and weathering then assembly which went rather easily.

IMG_2150 by Chris WIlson, on Flickr

IMG_2151 by Chris WIlson, on Flickr

And there you have it one P-40 all done. While it wasn't a detail delight it went together really well and with Cartograf decals the usual decal problems didn't occur and it looks the part when complete! Now time to put pics in the gallery!

The extension is very much welcome and I moved on. Getting close to bring her on the landing gear though have to add some other minor bits.

Such a pretty airplane Radek. The mottled pattern on the fuselage is especially well done.

Thanks, Brian. I was a little bit affraid of that, because it was my first attempt and without any practice, so kind to my likings do it or bust .
By the way your MC.200 looks superb.

Cheers,
Radek

Finished MC.200 from 373a Squadriglia, 153 Gruppo autonomo -Africa 1941. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out given how crude the original model was. Adding the scratchbuilt details was pretty fun but took most of the time. The incorrect spinner cover and fuselage white band that is too thick still bother me, but on to the next project!

My Bf-109 is completed. No swastika decals for the tail were provided, and my spares from another kit are too big, so it's doing without.

It's a basic kit but not bad, with some engine and cockpit detail add-ons it could be a really nice kit.

Cockpit panel is just decals but doesn't look too bad.

@Oliver, Peter - Thank you guys.
@eMan, nice finish on Re.2001

Final update

Ok. So Bf100 is finished. 3U+LT from Sicily 1941. Of course many things could be done better, but ... next time

Now it's done. Here are the pics (sample ones uploaded into Campaign gallery):

And pic with bigger "brother"

It was a fun campaign and it was fun watching all your entries becoming great models.
Congrats to all who already finished and good luck for all of you who are yet to cross finish line.
Cheers,
Radek
