This is the Tamiya P-47M built almost from the box.
Its finished as 44-2116 HV-J "Lorene" of the 61st FS, 56th Fighter Group, and was flown by Russ Kyler.
Eduard seatbelts were added and also general wiring around the instrument panel, undercarriage, and engine.
The Tamiya decals for the cowling artwork fall short in their accuracy. The closest of the two versions offered being the one with the light brown colouring.
A new noseart decal was produced from artwork based on the photo of Lorene Kyler that was used when the original cowling painting was done in 1945.
The model was signed by Russ Kyler during a recent visit to the UK, and Nigel has also been able to photograph HV-J with Russ's dogtags which are on display at the 56th FG museum in Halesworth, Suffolk.
