Operational Overview
May 12, 1938 was the commissioning date of the most famous and important U.S. Navy ship of WWII, arguably the most important single ship in American history, the USS Enterprise, CV-6. At one time the only operational American carrier in the South Pacific, the Enterprise was present at every major Pacific naval battle of the war except Coral Sea (missed it by a couple of days). Aircraft flying from the Enterprise were responsible for sinking three of the four Japanese carriers at Midway, and the ship was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, the Navy Unit Commendation, the British Admiralty Pennant and 20 battle stars, far ahead of any other ship in the Navy. The name Enterprise has a sterling history from at least the 18th century until today, and beyond!

Our campaign takes on added poignancy with the fact that USS Enterprise, CVN-65, will be decommissioned in 2013. Over 50 years old, Enterprise is, at the moment, the second oldest ship in the US Navy inventory, after USS Constitution.

In honor of the 75th Anniversary of the commissioning of CV-6 and the end of the career of CVN-65, we present this Enterprise Campaign.

The Rules and Regs
1. Any scale, any era, any genre (naval, space, etc.) any modeling medium (for those wooden ship types out there).
2. Must be Enterprise related, either a vessel that bore the name Enterprise or a vehicle/aircraft which operated from such vessel so long as it was in the colors and markings of the time it so operated. Also any person who served on such vessel so long as he/she is depicted as they appeared during that time.
3. The model can be of an actual, historic vehicle or person or fictional, including especially science fiction; so long as it’s demonstrably Enterprise related.
4. Model can be up to 10% started (for those like me who take a stab at starting something then put it away to start something else. I’m running out of completely unstarted kits in my collection!)
5. One year to complete the campaign.
6. Enter as many times as you like but only one ribbon per modeler.
7. Honor the 75th Anniversary of the commissioning of the most important U.S. Naval ship of WWII, and the career of the fist nuclear carrier. Oh, and have fun!
