'''Remove before flight''' is a safety warning commonly seen on removable aircraft and spacecraft components, typically in the form of a red ribbon, to indicate that a device, such as a protective cover or a pin to prevent the movement of mechanical parts. It is only used when the aircraft is on the ground (parked or taxiing). On small general aviation aircraft, this may include a cover or a control lock. In some cases, non-removal of a labeled part have caused airplane crashes. The warning appears in English only. Similar ribbons labelled '''Pull to arm''' or similar are found on missiles and other weapon systems that are not mounted on aircraft.
in the bag
bagPacked in the normal re-sealable card backed packaging, the bag contains one fret of photo etch, one sheet of fabric remove before flight tags, with a A5 size set of instructions.
The fabric sheet contains 16 tags. Each ribbon is pre coloured in a deep red on both sides, with the "Remove Before Flight" in white, and is readable. There is a small hole in the top of each tag for ties to be connected. The fabric ribbons are held onto a sticky backing sheet, and are easy too remove.
The photo etch sheet holds 20 ties for attaching to the aircraft. Two different types of ties are supplied, one with a T shape connector with the other set having a round type. Eduard show a wire loop can also be used, which is not supplied.

instructions, markings and decals
The instructions as already stated is printed on a A5 sheet and is printed in colour. The build sequence, if it can be called that, is extremly easy to follow. On the reverse side there is a written set of instructions for the use of the fabric parts, these instructions are more to do with the fabric seat belts that Eduard produce.

Please remember, when contacting retailers or manufacturers, to mention that you saw their products highlighted here - on AEROSCALE.
Highs: Easy to use and pretty realistic looking, and an improvement over the full photo etch sets that are produced.
Lows: None
Verdict: A good little set for improving the look of your parked aircraft with realistic Remove Before Flight ribbons.

About Andy Brazier (betheyn)

I started modelling in the 70's with my Dad building Airfix aircraft kits. The memory of my Dad and I building and painting a Avro Lancaster on the kitchen table will always be with me. I then found a friend who enjoyed building models, and between us I think we built the entire range of 1/72 Airfi...

Really a nice idea. The issue for me is that the fabric will basically hang straight unless you brush on some diluted white glue. PE ones will hold any shape you bend them into.
