I don't want to sound like a broken record, but we've still not come up with a ribbon!

John

How about this?

And in actual ribbon size

Neat ribbon, kinda captures the whole flavor of the event.
This MPM kit is making me go OLD school. All but joints and no locators, so I had to add some. It's a vac canopy, never done one of them before either. Hope I can hold it together to the end.

These things always look awesome and evil in black!

Hopefully I can get an hour or two this weekend to get the grey mottling done then the OD and NG top coats.

Steph, your builds are moving along beautifully, those decals look to have laid down very nicely.

Mark, I've got every confidence in you mate, you will get this one together!

My first attempt at the "black basing" technique, random grey primer squiggles over the black primer, then gently build up the top coat opacity using the base to create tonal variations.

Squiggles are on, top coat to follow soon!

Paint on! Tamiya acrylics cut with MLT. Light coats building up opacity to allow the basing to show through.

Masking for the white tail and leading edges next.

Well, it's nearly complete now. Have to glue the drop tanks under the wings and then take pictures for the gallery
I encountered no big problems, but the black line decal for the yellow cowling was way too short to get around the big nose...fortunately I found some spare piece in my decal box to fix it.

First few decals applied. These are Thundercals, printed by Cartograph. Super thin and behaving nicely so far. These are just applied and still wet with a touch of Mr Mark Softer, I will see how they after a few hours to settle down.

Thanks Peter!

Main decals down on the body, time to get stuck in to about 10,000 stencils.

Hi All,

Stephane, very nice work on your builds! Peter, good build, nicely done.

Nigel, nice to see your second build moving along at such a good pace. D, I watched with interest on your black basing. I was curious to see how the grey would tint the overcoat. Looks like it did pretty good! Have fun with the stencils, though in the environment they were in, they did wear off rapidly. Something to consider as you go cross-eyed!

Well I've been cruising along, and Rosie noticed that there was some space that would allow for another build. I was a bit surprised when she picked the bubbletop variant as she really didn't know of this campaign. So I started building it, and didn't remember to take pics until the airframe was about complete! They do build fast! While my hopes of doing "Animosa II (III)) have been dashed, it appears she picked the kit based on the artwork. So my second adventure will be Lt. Col Ben Mayo's mount. Who fears bare metal finishes!!

Here's where I'm at on this one, looking like a duel paint job is quickly approaching!

Till next time, stay safe and have fun!
